Who Is the Stronger Person?
Recently, I reconnected with a good friend from the past. Our friendship is happily reigniting after many years apart. This friend was my neighbor during those many years when I was chronically ill, and she witnessed much of my struggle firsthand. During our recent conversation, I asked about another close friend of hers, also chronically ill during that time.
I remember her friend had been relying heavily on Western medicine like so many of us do, hoping for a cure. She underwent numerous surgeries as the doctors continued to cut away parts of her internal organs in an attempt to heal her.
Curious about how her friend was doing after all this time, I asked. My friend replied that she was still undergoing surgeries. Then she added, “She’s such an incredibly strong person. Probably the strongest person I know.”
Her words made me pause. I wondered if my friend had any idea of the strength it took for me to reclaim my health and my life. It led me to a question: Who is the stronger person?
Is it the person who continues to trust in medical science and allows their body to be subjected to repeated surgeries and long-term medications over many decades, hoping for a cure? Or is it the person who wakes up one day and realizes, “This isn’t working. There has to be a better way,” then forges a new path toward recovery?
Einstein famously said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, but when it comes to our health, many of us continue down the same path, relying on the same medical approaches, even when they fail to bring us healing. Is it truly insanity, or have we been systematically brainwashed? Have we been conditioned by a system that promotes endless treatments and surgeries without addressing the root causes of illness? It’s worth asking whether our persistence in this cycle is a personal choice—or the result of decades of societal conditioning that teaches us to ignore the body’s true messages and place all our trust in external solutions.
My healing took an entirely different path. It involved facing many inner demons, rooted in unresolved traumas I had suffered from childhood through adulthood. I came to understand that the body is a messenger. When we ignore the messages, they only get louder affecting our health in devastating ways. I wonder what messages my friend’s friend might be refusing to see. I wonder if she even knows to look.
I am not here to judge. We all have our own path, and we each have to make the decisions that feel right for us. But I ask you again—who do you think is the stronger person?
Every journey starts with a single step. And sometimes, that first step is the hardest one to take.
I understand this deeply. It’s why I do the work that I do, and it’s why I wrote my book, “Why You’re Sick and How to Get Well: Revealing Everything Western Medicine Isn’t Telling You,” along with the accompanying workbook – to assist people in taking that first step.
For those facing chronic illness, the struggle often extends beyond just health. Many people also face financial hardship, whether it’s from an inability to work, the staggering costs of medical care, or both. In fact, approximately 66.5% of bankruptcies in the U.S. are linked to medical issues, either because of medical bills or lost income due to illness.
It’s likely that you know someone who is struggling with chronic illness. You may know more than one person. So, would you consider letting them know that my book exists?
For significantly less than the cost of a doctor’s appointment, they can begin to unravel the mysteries of their health, discover the messages their body is sending, and explore new possibilities for healing.
As I reflect on the journeys I’ve witnessed, I want to take a moment to celebrate those of you who have already taken that courageous first step. You have chosen to face your demons and embrace the messages your body is sending, even when it has seemed unbearable. Your strength, resilience, and determination to heal are truly remarkable.
It’s an honor to walk alongside you on your healing journey, and I am endlessly inspired by your willingness to explore new paths toward wellness. You are the proof that healing is possible and that there is always a better way.
Here’s to your continued courage and the unfolding of your health and vitality!
